Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve never owned an electric boat before, what do I need to know in order to operate an American Beauty Boat?
American Beauty Boats are very simple to operate. No previous experience is required. Because of its flat bottom hull design, the responsiveness and maneuverability is by far the best in its class. Women boaters especially love how easy they handle both forward and in reverse.
How does an American Beauty Boat differ from other electric boats?
Other than the obvious “WOW” factor, our flat bottom design provides unmatched stability. In addition, by using the Ray Electric outboard motor the maneuverability is unlike any in its class.
How do you get that beautiful wood-look finish?
We use tools and techniques we have developed in coordination with the latest gel coat products available today to provide a custom look for our customers so no two boats are alike.
What type of motor do you use?
The motor is an outboard electric motor manufactured by Ray Motors, a premier manufacturer since 1975. Standard power is provided in a 36 volt system with 48 and 60 volt systems available as upgrades.
What cruising speed can I expect?
With a 36 volt system you can expect a cruising speed of 4.5 – 5 mph. With our upgraded battery systems, 48 and 60 volt, you can expect 5.5 – 6.5 mph.
How long will an American Beauty run on a fully charged battery?
At full throttle, 6.5 mph, you will get approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours of running time. Otherwise if you were cruising at half speed, 3 – 3.5 mph, it’s not uncommon to get 5-7 hours of cruising time. Our dash-mounted volt meter will track battery usage.
What is the lifetime of the battery pack?
A Lifeline AGM battery pack can provide up to 8 years of reliable service before having to be replaced. The battery system chosen is a waterless system which is basically maintenance free.
How long does it take to recharge the battery?
The standard battery pack recharges overnight in 12 hours. A standard 110 volt outlet is all that is required for the on-board charging system. Simply plug the cord into the outlet located on the outside of the boat. A simple and convenient overnight charge prepares the boat for full operation day after day for just pennies.
How much does it cost to charge the battery?
A fully depleted battery that is recharged to full capacity costs only pennies a charge.
What kind of warranty is provided?
American Beauty Boats warrants the hull for 5 years and the fabrics such as the canvas, upholstery, and carpet, for 2 years. All other features such as radio, batteries, motor etc. are covered under each individual manufacturer’s warranty.
How does an American Beauty handle the saltwater, marine environment?
With our all fiberglass construction each model is manufactured from high quality fiberglass for long life and durability. Just like all fiberglass boats we recommend cleaning the bottom paint and checking zincs every 2 months. If most of your boating is in lake-type environments then zinc’s are not required. The materials used throughout our boats make them easy to maintain and strong enough to withstand heavy use as well as handle the natural effects of saltwater environments. To keep your American Beauty looking like new for many years simply wash and wax 2 to 3 times a year to ensure their lasting luster.
